CORVALLIS, Ore. -- An Albany man pleaded not guilty to 40 counts of sexual abuse on Thursday.
Juan Leal-Galvez, 46, is accused of abusing one victim, and the abuse allegedly began when she was 7 years old.

After over a decade the victim came forward and told her doctor about the continued abuse, saying she estimates he abused her about 15 times a month for years and as recently as December.
Deputy District Attorney Amie Matusko said Leal-Galvez the abuse began in Philomath.
Matusko also said Oregon has recently ammended laws that allow victims more rights.
"Recently the legislature has changed the statute of limitations in child sexual abuse cases in order to understand that children don't always disclose," Matusko said.
Victims of child sex abuse now have until they turn 30 to report the crimes and press charges.
Leal-Galvez is being held on a $3.7 million bond, and his next court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
