Albany man arrested in Corvallis shooting

According to investigators, it all started with a fight outside a house party.

CORVALLIS, Ore. – An arrest has been made in connection with a July shooting in Corvallis that sent a man to the hospital.

Alexander Leal, 19, of Albany was taken to the Benton County Jail on Aug. 5 on charges of attempted murder, first-degree and third-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and reckless endangering.

According to investigators, it all started with a fight outside a house party at about 11 p.m. on July 17. Police responded to the 100 block of NW 15th Street and found a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the shooter had left the scene before officers arrived.
