LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- Two people involved in a shooting Friday, July 23, in the area of N. Morningstar Rd. and Enterprise Rd. in Pleasant Hill, were arrested after a high-speed chase Saturday morning, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.
About 8:30 a.m. Saturday, a trooper with the Oregon State Police spotted a Mitsubishi matching the description of a car seen driving away from the scene of the shooting on July 23, and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The Mitsubishi backed into the trooper’s vehicle then drove off at a high rate of speed, police said.
Troopers and deputies pursued the vehicle and spike strips were successfully used as the vehicle was driving on Interstate 5. The vehicle eventually came to a stop and the occupants were taken into custody.
During the chase the occupants of the Mitsubishi threw a firearm out the window. This firearm was recovered shortly thereafter, authorities said. Also at one point the vehicle struck the front end of a Lane County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle, according to authorities.
No one reported injuries during Saturday’s incident.
Jennifer Lynn Robertson, 39, was identified as the driver of the Mitsubishi. She is facing charges from both the chase and last week’s incident including criminal conspiracy, hit and run, reckless endangering, reckless driving, attempt to elude, third-degree escape, interfering with police, felon in possession of a firearm and first-degree attempted assault. She will be lodged at the Lane County Jail.
Jesse Johnson, 38, was identified as the passenger of the Mitsubishi today. He will be lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges related to both the chase and last week’s incident including reckless endangering, interfering with police, felon in possession of a firearm, criminal conspiracy, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree attempted assault, and offensive littering.
During the shooting on July 23, a silver Volkswagen Golf and a 2001 Silver Mitsubishi car were observed fleeing the area moments later.
Regarding the original shots fired incident, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office would like to speak with the occupant or occupants of a silver Volkswagen Golf that was in the area of N. Morningstar Rd. and Enterprise Rd. on July 23, at abount 8:30 p.m. Police are hoping to make contact with a person by the name of Ryder or Dillon and any additional witnesses that may have information about the shooting.
