HARRISBURG, Ore. -- Students in Harrisburg High School’s advanced welding class are learning skills and techniques that put them on the same level as professionals in the industry.
It’s the latest example of what’s happening in our community to prepare people for jobs in skilled trades.
“I’m working on tig welding because that’s one of the new processes that we’re learning about,” senior Victor Hesser said. “I did some last year, but I’m trying to get better because that’s the career I want to go into.”
Another student told KEZI 9 News he’s gained a lot of confidence in the course.
“I have learned so much,” senior Spencer Tucker said. “And if I was to take a welding course in college, I’d already be so much more prepared for what’s upcoming. And I wouldn’t have to learn so much from that.”
