Homeowner, dog safe after house fire in Eugene

Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a house fire on Alderwood Street Monday morning.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a house fire on Alderwood Street Monday morning.

The fire started in the kitchen just before 8 a.m., the homeowner told KEZI 9 News.

The fire chief said they were able to quickly extinguish the fire when they arrived, and they're investigating the scene.

The Eugene Water and Electric Board and Eugene Springfield Fire Medic Unit were also on the scene. 

The homeowner and his dog are safe.
