EUGENE, Ore—With the school year right around the corner for the 4J School District, a new campus will be opening to serve struggling students.

The school district’s alternative high school, Early College and Career Options (ECCO), will open at its new location on North Monroe St. and will have a starting enrollment of 100 students. There will be six classrooms and a child care center. Local businesses will teach some trade classes to help train students to get a job after the graduate. 4j’s Administrator for Alternative Programming, Paula Nolan, can’t wait for the school year to begin.

“Every student deserves every opportunity once they finish their high school experience,” Nolan said. “Being in a program like ECCO with such an amazing staff lets me support those students and the staff in helping them realize their dreams.”

The new campus cost the school district about $3 million and the money was approved through a bond measure that was passed by voters in 2018.
