EUGENE, Ore. -- Thousands gathered at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum on Sunday for the largest display of fresh mushrooms.

Visitors had a chance to taste the popular mushroom soup, while others enjoyed hay rides, live music, and other family fun-filled activities.

Noah Sigel is a mushroom expert and he said at least 400 different types of species were displayed at this year's festival.

"Most people are fascinated because it's free food in the forest," he said. "There are a lot of people out there you know wanting to find edible mushrooms, there's just you know people who are curious about all natural things."

He also said at least 5,000 different species of mushrooms exist in the Pacific Northwest.
