EUGENE, Ore. -- As the weather gets colder, a group of homeless veterans in Eugene will now have a warm place to stay.

Community Supported Shelters just got a $35,000 grant from Wells Fargo. The VeteranWINS grant provides financial support to community-based nonprofits focused on addressing veteran homelessness, transitional housing, and low- to moderate-income veteran home rehabilitation.

The nonprofit operates shelters for homeless people, including one for veterans at the Eugene Mission.

They are using part of the grant to buy a trailer and chainsaws so the veterans can chop firewood because they want to be self-reliant.

The money will also be used to upgrade the shelters.
