Eugene City Council delays "Rest Stop" decision

Eugene city council delays their decision on whether to set up another spot for people without a home to sleep at night

EUGENE, Ore. - Eugene City Council is delaying their decision on whether to set up another spot for people without a home to sleep at night.

They're called rest stops and currently the city has five of them.

The newest proposed location is the southwest corner of 34th Avenue and Hilyard Street.

On Monday, the council voted eight to one to wait two weeks on final approval. They said this would give more time for neighbors to weigh in on the proposal.

Tracy Joscelyn, on site park manager at Eugene Village, said "We care if you don't come home, which is proper.  And we encourage people to do good things in the day. And when there's more and more rest stops we can all organize and give back to the community."
