EUGENE, Ore. -- The 4J school board held a listening session Wednesday evening to give the public the opportunity to talk about issues facing the school district.

The hour-long listening session was broken into two parts. The first part was an informal conversation with board members, and the second was a more formal public hearing. Attendees voiced opinions about how the district should invest money from the Student Success Act and how diversity could play a bigger role in classroom.

One topic the school board will be addressing is what to do with about $13 million given to Eugene School District 4J under the Student Success Act.

The community will have an opportunity to weigh in on that at sessions on Sept. 25 and 26, but the public can also fill out an online survey until Sept. 27.
