EUGENE, Ore. -- At the Fix-It Fair this weekend, you can fix things you already have and keep them out of the landfill.

The free Saturday event is the last Fix-It Fair of the year. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lane Events Center, 796 W 13th Ave.

At the event, professionals will walk you through any repairs you want -- from toasters that won’t work to jewelry with missing clasps.

“These events are great because we’ve had people who come and bring in their grandparent’s jewelry, and they are able to get these things repaired, or old blenders that they thought weren’t going to be able to be used anymore that are from the 1960s and before,” Waste Prevention Analyst Allie Breyer said. “So it’s kinda like regifting something they already had.”

You can also take in clothes that need mended, other small appliances that don’t work, electronics, furniture, bikes and toys.

They won’t accept gas-powered items or computers.
