safely. we'll have that story tonight on kezi 9 news. overnight two teenage boys were arrested in cottage grove after breaking into a banner bank on gateway blvd. it happened just after 8 p-m. the boys used rocks to break a 6 by 3 window to enter the building. kezi nine news reporter macy hyland just arrived back from the scene-- she spoke to officers about the break in and has more information on the young men. macy? sean--police say the two teenagers were 14 and 15--and runaways from the eugene- springfield area. they say they believe the boys didn't have malicious intentions--but they're thoughtlessness is still going to cost the banner bank. when i arrived this morning--just about an hour before the bank would open--the broken window was temporarily covered. officers say they received a call from someone passing by who had seen the two boys break in. they say upon inspecting the damage--the broken window, along with damaged interior, is going to cost about fifteen hundred dollars. officers say the two appeared to be intoxicated and not thinking about their actions. "both appeared to be remorseful while they were in custody, but they caused a bunch of damage in the meantime." shepherd says he doesn't believe the teenagers intended to steal anything--and they spent most of their time inside the bank eating the candy inside. he says the two were compliant with the officers. they were charged with criminal mischief and burglary. since the two are juveniles--the names are not able to be released. they were transferred to serbu around 11 p-m last night. live
